Preserving a Unique Treasure
Hidden along the Niagara Gorge is a little known local treasure; a chimney that belonged to a barracks of Ft. Little Niagara and has been used by the British and by early residents. It has been move twice, first by the Niagara Falls Power Company (for the construction of the Adams Powerhouse) and then again for the construction of the Robert Moses Parkway. Today, it sits on the edge of Porter Park surrounded by shrubs and overgrown vegetation. It is at risk of crumbling unless someone steps in to preserve this piece of the Niagara region's history.
